Surveillance System Technician / Integrator​

Caprock Rentals is seeking a skilled Surveillance System Technician / Integrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in surveillance systems, IT networking, and solar/battery-powered equipment. This role involves installing, integrating, and maintaining advanced surveillance systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and effectively to meet client needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Surveillance System Installation & Maintenance:

    • Install, configure, and maintain surveillance cameras and related equipment.
    • Perform regular maintenance checks to ensure optimal system performance.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with surveillance equipment promptly.

Technology Integration:

      • Integrate new technologies into existing surveillance systems to enhance functionality.
      • Collaborate with the technical team to evaluate and implement system upgrades.
      • Ensure compatibility of new components with current systems.

IT & Networking:

    • Perform basic IT tasks, including installing and terminating CAT cables (Ethernet cabling).
    • Program routers, switches, and other networking equipment to support surveillance systems.
    • Set up and configure backend systems for cameras, including network video recorders (NVRs) and servers.
    • Troubleshoot network issues that affect system performance.

Solar & Battery Diagnostics:

    • Install and maintain solar panels and battery systems that power surveillance equipment.
    • Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting for solar and battery systems to ensure reliable operation.
    • Understand and manage power consumption requirements of surveillance systems.

Physical Installation & Field Work:

    • Work outdoors in various weather conditions to install and service equipment.
    • Climb and work safely on ladders and aerial lifts to install equipment at heights.
    • Operate forklifts and other machinery as required (certification is a plus).

Safety Practices:

    • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and guidelines.
    • Maintain a safe working environment on all job sites.
    • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Customer Relations:

    • Provide excellent on-site support and communication to clients.
    • Address customer questions and concerns professionally and promptly.
    • Ensure customer satisfaction through quality workmanship and service.

Workspace Management:

    • Maintain a clean and organized workspace during installations and service calls.
    • Properly manage tools and equipment to prevent loss or damage.
    • Keep accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs.

Tools & Equipment:

    • Possess a personal set of basic tools relevant to the job (having your own tools is a plus).
    • Use company-provided specialized tools and equipment responsibly.

Driving & Travel:

    • Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
    • Travel to various job sites as required, potentially including overnight stays.
    • Safely operate company vehicles when transporting equipment and personnel.

Team Collaboration:

    • Work effectively within a team environment, assisting colleagues as needed.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning.
    • Share knowledge and expertise to support team development.

Documentation & Reporting:

    • Accurately document all work performed, including installations, maintenance, and repairs.
    • Provide detailed reports on system performance and any issues encountered.
    • Keep records up-to-date in company systems and databases.

Continuous Learning:

    • Stay current with the latest advancements in surveillance technology and networking.
    • Attend training sessions and obtain certifications as required.
    • Apply new knowledge to improve system performance and customer service.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in electronics, IT networking, or related field is preferred.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in installing and maintaining surveillance systems.

Technical Skills:

    • Proficient in installing and configuring surveillance cameras and equipment.
    • Strong understanding of IT networking, including CAT cable installation, router programming, and network troubleshooting.
    • Experience with setting up camera backend systems, NVRs, and servers.
    • Knowledge of solar panels and battery systems used in powering surveillance equipment.
    • Familiarity with basic electrical principles and safety standards.

Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
    • Comfortable working at heights and in various outdoor environments.
    • Capable of operating aerial lifts, forklifts, and other machinery (certification preferred).

Other Requirements:

    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Own basic tools necessary for the job (preferred).

Additional Skills (Preferred but Not Required):

  • Certifications in relevant areas (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA).
  • Experience with specific surveillance brands or software platforms.
  • Forklift and aerial lift operation certifications.
  • OSHA safety training.
